This volume contains prayers and meditations written or published by Hans Nielsen Hauge, translated for the first time into the English language, with a devotional biography. Surprisingly few of the writings of this great Norwegian lay preacher (1771-1824) have been translated into English until recent years. This volume is published in commemoration of the 200th anniversary of Hauge’s death. The largest section in the volume is a prayer-book, with prayers for morning and evening on each day of the week. A few other, short prayers are also included. The second division in the volume consists of meditations or devotional writings. Some of these are on the subject of prayer, others on various dimensions of the Christian life.
